He has been a member of many learned bodies and associated with several Muslim institutions and organizations. He served as President of the apex body of the Muslim community the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat from 2004 to 2007.
In addition to his editorials, articles and statements he has been writing to policy makers, political parties as well as governments.
The objective of the website is to project his ideas and thoughts, concepts and visions, particularly with the struggle of the Muslim Indians for equality and dignity within the framework of the Indian state founded on the principles of rule of law, secularism and social justice. This website will reproduce his editorials in Muslim India as well as his articles in other journals. And also give his views on current national developments and his contribution to the making of the national consensus on matters which demand attention of all thinking Indians irrespective of religion, caste, class, language, domicile and even political affiliation in the overall interest of the country.
Apart from his statements, this website will cover his important letters to the governments, the political parties and the media, through which Shahabuddin has been defending democracy against the advance of fascist forces, secularism against communalism, social justice from those who believe in the status quo, the aspirations of the people for more participation at every level of governance, the right of the states in a truly federal structure.
His statements and letters highlight the need for persistent action against corruption, nepotism and inefficiency, for democracy within the political parties, for equitable distribution of national income and resources down to every village in order to provide a life of minimum dignity for all people.
