Higher Education Through Urdu
Letter to Prof. Wahab Qaiser Maulana Azad Urdu University, June 23, 2009
I read your article on higher education through Urdu medium in the monthly Urdu Duniya for June 2009. I am particularly impressed by the expansion of Urdu - Medium Programmes of Maulana Azad National Urdu University. When I visited the University, before it started functioning, I emphasized that the University should place development of textbook in Urdu for various under-graduate and later post- graduate courses. There is no indication so far of the progress made in this regard, neither in terms of translating world class textbooks which are available in English into Urdu or of having original textbooks in Urdu written by competent authors. Now that the University has completed 10 years of its existence, it should conduct a self-audit in this regard and inform Urdu speaking public of the progress made and its programme for the future for Urdu textbooks.

I would request you to bring this letter to the notice of the VC as I keenly await a reply.
