7 March, 2009

My dear Sherwani Saheb,

I thank you for your letter of 24 Feb.2009.
Subsequently, I received both the documents sent by your office. Earlier, at the time of election, I had received a list of the life members who are eligible to participate in election. I was surprised to find that the entire membership of the conference belongs largely to few districts of UP and in many cases many members belong to the same family with a common address. This shows the depth to which an All India Organisation has fallen.

I strongly urge that raising above personal interests, the present office bearers should constitute a committee to give serious thought to amending the Constitution so that it becomes a true successor of the original Conference which took many initiatives even on political matters. I would not however, like the Conference become a political body but at least it should take interest in the promotion of education of the Muslim community which is the major task facing it.

While I appreciate the journal you bring out, it hardly contains any report on the educational development and progress of the community.
With kind regards
